The Evolution of Personal Voice
You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind of Shane Birley to — the outer limits of digital awesomeness.
Now, some of you may be thinking: "Um, WTF kind of Northern Voice speaker description is that?" Well, what we've got planned is kind of a secret. If we tell you what this presentation is about, it will ruin the surprise.
By telling you that, we do run the risk of running expectations so high that you'll see this presentation and say, "Wow. That was pretty awesome, but I thought it was going to be TOTALLY CRAZY MESSED-UP awesome. Now, I just don't know."
But we're willing to take that risk. We think you're going to like it, so we're sticking with this plan.
Here's a hint, though: the presentation may involve blogging. Possibly, social media. And we're not going to confirm this, but Battlestar Galactica, Firefly and Wonder Woman may get prominent mentions.
Shane Birley is a creative guy with a technical background and a literature degree. He is best described as a technologist or a nerd. He also co-authored the last three editions of Blogging For Dummies. In January 2006, he helped to found Left Right Minds a web development and arts management company in Vancouver, British Columbia. He also runs a theatre review magazine called Plank Magazine and co-founded the Neanderthal Arts Festival. More recently, he has been podcasting his brains out. Last but not least, Shane has been helping organize Northern Voice since 2008, helping so many others come together to share their own personal voice online.
