Here Be Dragons (or Aliens, or Zombies). A Liveblogging Adventure
What would happen if a swarm of hungry, fire breathing dragons attacked the Northern Voice conference? Or, perhaps an alien invasion? A Walking Dead-style zombie apocalypse? A combination of all three scenarios?
This workshop-style event will test whether a room full of bloggers, podcasters, live-streamers, tweeps and Facebook addicts can do in less than an hour what radio legend Orson Welles once accomplished in 1938 with his War of the Worlds broadcast, long before social media tools were available.
At the beginning of the session, participants will vote on the scenario they want to liveblog. Then, using only their existing blogs and social media platforms, a few key scenario details revealed throughout the session and whatever details they want to add, they will see if they can they get the message out to help "save humanity" from these fantastical threats.
How will the participants interact? Will storylines converge? Will the rest of the NV conference help spread the word? Will it "go viral"?
This session is meant to be a fun, hands-on experimental workshop in personal expression -- a bit of a break from the usual seminar or panel.
